We knew all of these ifs going in:
- If we could run the ball at least a little bit...
- If we could keep Mathieu from killing us on punt returns...
- If we could avoid turnovers...
- If Murray is extremely accurate...
- if, if, if...
We knew we had to play a perfect game. We knew there was no room for error. We knew all these things and we went into the Dome with hope. Our team delivered from the opening kickoff. The offense moved the ball and scored 10 when it should have been 17 or 21. Our defense allowed only 8 yards of total offense in the first half and zero first downs. We thoroughly dominated the best team in the country for most of the first half. But we did not account for Tyran Mathieu on the one punt and our boat got a gaping hole in the side and began to sink. It sank slowly at first, but then it went to the bottom with astounding speed. Speaking of astounding speed... LSU players move at warp speed.
So we lost to the best team in the world. Time to learn from it, regroup and go win our bowl game to complete an 11-3 season.
I am impressed beyond description with the LSU team. I am proud of the Georgia team and I look forward to an even better season in 2012.
Go DAWGS! GATA!
